Liquor license at Livonia Athletic District denied over back

A backlog of unpaid taxes has apparently derailed plans to bring alcohol to the former YMCA building in Livonia.

The Livonia Athletic District, the business that last year bought the building at 14255 Stark, recently approached the city’s planning commission about obtaining a Class C liquor license for the building.

The original plan calls for the allowance of the sale of alcohol in several portions of the building. Such a license will help to attract other tenants the company hopes to bring to the building, including a golf simulator.

“The Dogleg (Simulator, a company seeking to locate in the space) and some of the lease spaces, they’re reliant on that usage in coming in and signing their leases,” said Jonathan Hartzell with Livonia Athletic District.
